Blackeberg, a suburb of Stockholm, is home to Oskar, a smart, shy child who suffers from bullying in school until a quite peculiar girl moves to the neighbourhood. The Swedish writer John Ajvide Lindqvist (who wrote the book and screenplay of Border, also at FICLO) surprised the world in 2004 with Let the Right One In, a novel that changed the vampire sub-genre. These vampires don’t live in castles or wear aristocratic garb, they are neighbourhood kids trying to help each other out. It is a story of love and friendship. The pacing is slow, delicate and poetic. Let the Right One In received uncountable accolades from international critics.
