In a half-dystopian Tbilisi, Manana, a fifty-year-old housewife, decides to become a writer. Her family temporarily tolerates this eccentricity as long as she doesn’t neglect her duties as a wife and as a mother. Until the day that she decides to read the book she’s written in secret out loud to her family. This leads to an unavoidable conflict. Despite some absurdist elements, this is an archetypal realist drama about the situation that many women are stuck in as carers. Literature, or the book Manana is writing, is her own rebellion.
